It was a slow start but now up to 145 items. I shop the flea market on Wed, estate sales on Thursday and yard sales on Fri and Sat. The rest of the week I spend lots of time cleaning or repairing, taking pictures of items, researching history and pricing, listing the item which is v time consuming, answering emails, packing, shipping and trips to the Post Office. I have found my niche. So, I</span> wanted to tell you about a special item I just sold.</span></div>

Ive met lots of people there and look forward to the social aspects and networking. I dont remember the exact shop i was at, but i spotted this silver egg shaped thing that appeared to be a salt shaker. The vendor wanted $3. I was really attracted to it for some reason but who is going to want a salt shaker with no mate? Then i noticed some strange markings and offered her $2 which she accepted. I thought it looked interesting and if nothing else I could list it for $5 as a salt shaker. </span></div>

Went on the internet and discovered that JHH was John H Hilcox, British silversmith. The hallmarking of British
silver is based on a combination of marks that makes possible the
identification of the origin and the age of each piece. </span><span style="color: #400000; font-size: small;">The first is the town mark of the Assay Office that verified the
piece. The lion certifies the silver quality and the last letter mark identifies the year.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: black; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">This egg was a desk top pomander used like an air freshener, crafted in Birmingham England in the year 1891. I researched similar items on ebay, put it up for sale in my etsy shop for $195 and it sold a couple weeks later. The story gets better here. The buyer owns a resort in the south of France and is married to J H Hilcox's great granddaughter. He bought it for her as a birthday present. The powers of the universe aligned.</span></div>

I have achieved more peace, thankfulness and inspiration from Oprah's Super Soul Sunday than any church I have ever stepped into. I watched <u>Autism, The Musical</u> and felt thankful my kids are healthy; peaceful that I'm right where I am supposed to be, right here, right now (Eckhart Tolle); and inspired to live my best life.<br />
<br />
So Blu and I went for a walk, thankful for this gorgeous day, being alive, and this tiny purple flower patch we found on the side of the road.<br />

My husband built this coop from scraps. It has a roost and 5 nest boxes, a trap door for cleaning out poo under the roosts, a small door for them to exit into their pen. It IS great for my new floors which i cant mop, but I despise having any gadget that requires buying expensive refills and disposables. I gave it a go. I even found reusable pads at yard sale, but then discovered that the spray bottle attachment has a locking cap. This obviously is a sneaky attempt to force me to buy cleaning solution refills at almost $4 each. Nice try. I then discovered the secret to refilling it:<br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pO-AbT3GpE<br /><br /><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"></span>Take that, swiffer people.flyerkathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08760666770923103442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777421834912166554.post-3088594191439241732010-06-28T17:47:00.007-04:002010-08-22T12:46:21.547-04:00my first car<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXBNDlNKTgKWkVwaN58vKR1egYrQXzSrkjo5UlV4Mh4yDZs9iQaYT2_O5euCL_4dCNC6XXXGisSP3F5PNayLtR266Vx6Ia4RSJtI315jv9tP9K-M9E00A_vujFnnwvHaBggNlTg-ZZzQCB/s1600/hondacoupe.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXBNDlNKTgKWkVwaN58vKR1egYrQXzSrkjo5UlV4Mh4yDZs9iQaYT2_O5euCL_4dCNC6XXXGisSP3F5PNayLtR266Vx6Ia4RSJtI315jv9tP9K-M9E00A_vujFnnwvHaBggNlTg-ZZzQCB/s320/hondacoupe.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487945308840303058" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />Honda 600 Coupe 1971<br />2 cylinders<br />45mpg<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxME1_VF5qgh1IVrhoXhfHVEZ9BuP2VmZE9XJJ1Zx59z5muNKeMpUEebJidew44pBb2sp2a_v9QaKqhBL9HlmRp4SAjqI5p3bNrx8cY4KsdajTWVXHPVnq_cbKJBUC1DTo3oJhsW2Ibqjl/s1600/71_amc_javelin.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxME1_VF5qgh1IVrhoXhfHVEZ9BuP2VmZE9XJJ1Zx59z5muNKeMpUEebJidew44pBb2sp2a_v9QaKqhBL9HlmRp4SAjqI5p3bNrx8cY4KsdajTWVXHPVnq_cbKJBUC1DTo3oJhsW2Ibqjl/s320/71_amc_javelin.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487944841083914370" border="0" /></a>1971? The driveway culvert is finished and that was awful work, shoveling steaming hot asphalt in 90+ degrees. <br /><br />Latest dilemma is the required hurricane shutters. I object to being forced to provide protection for your own home. It should be optional if it does not affect others. The risk of our home being hit by a hurricane is ridiculously miniscule yet the whole coast must comply. Absurd. The insurance companies must be behind it.<br /><br />Projects still needed for occupancy: Stair rail, remove pepper trees (non native, invasive), finish hooking up plumbing fixtures after the kitchen countertop is installed, shutters,<br /><br />My husband can do, build or fix damn near anything, but if he cant, he knows someone personally who can. My sisters visited this week and brought gifts:<br /><br />i LOVE that these gifts cost them little to nothing. One from my sisters home, the other from a thrift store. That makes them even more meaningful to me. Reduce, reuse, recycle.<br />I recently read of a challenge to not buy anything new for 1 year. Could you?<br />When my kids were young, and sometimes still, when we would go to kid parties, my boys would choose something in their rooms that they no longer played with, in good condition, that they would gift to their friends. Some friends would do the same in return. One of our favorite was the gift we received from Will Parrish, his boxing gloves and kick boxing protective wear. The boys had endless fun with these for years, and even to this day, when all their friends gathered to rumble in the front yard and show their stuff. We laughed so hard we cried.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO5LOO773W7YlBrK_78vbcX7tTcJwCOV7zifRcWNgjACX_8opuiGeVrCUVOsY0tLTEN3N4GT_JhfbGx8fQvj3eENf8dtTL6GvmsYTLyRhHk1jzddCHeHzPVTi5V2LOcb7wxsuB5YX-QgFD/s1600-h/oct+040.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO5LOO773W7YlBrK_78vbcX7tTcJwCOV7zifRcWNgjACX_8opuiGeVrCUVOsY0tLTEN3N4GT_JhfbGx8fQvj3eENf8dtTL6GvmsYTLyRhHk1jzddCHeHzPVTi5V2LOcb7wxsuB5YX-QgFD/s320/oct+040.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434700582614506834" border="0" /></a><br />I have received gifts in the past that you just "knew" were regifts. It was produced initially from 1880s -1920s and then again in the 50s. It is usually yellowish to light green and glows under UV (black) light due to the presence of uranium. Some consider only the yellow glass to be vaseline, but i also collect green uranium glass, purely because it glows! slightly because its old, not because its valuable, it isnt very. I just like the way it looks.flyerkathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08760666770923103442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777421834912166554.post-53719135629527453242009-10-22T18:35:00.009-04:002009-10-24T14:45:25.312-04:00Herbal Essence, Patchouli and Stevia<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4TOaHn-imVEf61yfNBagKppIhSFm3v1Tpn3oq2knCg0v6Qkgx7eOnf0z_WGYvAYg5L8iqZ5DgzUFMb1rMCsPtZLrI9c4cqSTAou2LVrWRWbB-Ul0QBAN560RGXk_sPUnP4XJN6TymCKuR/s1600-h/oct+058.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 273px; height: 204px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4TOaHn-imVEf61yfNBagKppIhSFm3v1Tpn3oq2knCg0v6Qkgx7eOnf0z_WGYvAYg5L8iqZ5DgzUFMb1rMCsPtZLrI9c4cqSTAou2LVrWRWbB-Ul0QBAN560RGXk_sPUnP4XJN6TymCKuR/s320/oct+058.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395607771526994162" border="0" /></a>Once in a while, and more often as my kids grow, i get to nourish my own spirit. When i turned 50 we were in California and i went to a spa retreat (enough with the "over the hill" parties). I hiked, did pilates, hot tub, yummy food, all by myself. It was deeelightful. Maybe im strange (yeah, yeah) but I frequently prefer my own company.<br /><br />Anyway, i took a herb growing class last week to facilitate my gardening hobby. Did you know that patchouli is a plant? You know, that nostalgic scent from the 60's that hippies wore to disguise the smell of pot. You either love it or hate it. It smells very musky, like wet dirt or your grandmothers attic, or a Grateful Dead concert. Anyway, i was thrilled that i can grow it in my yard! And i bought a piece of ginger root and planted it for cultivation, along with some garlic. I also now have a stevia plant which is a natural sugar substitute. Freakin' amazing. The leaves actually taste v sweet. I can pick some limes from my key lime tree, slice them in a glass of water and add a few stevia leaves. Voila! simple pleasures.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3kNepVOgXmKNOLdsDzVLiV9Glmohal5Zsgtg0NnTeEQ9cBBVOVLJviVGjFX_wH8PvFGVnP3Z96Zf1jFnXKAX-f1TPteZrWofPVy7iMnh2zzCo5WTJl-Vo94Pbrzonb_22YaVQWftRtGVL/s1600-h/jn+132.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 167px; height: 126px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3kNepVOgXmKNOLdsDzVLiV9Glmohal5Zsgtg0NnTeEQ9cBBVOVLJviVGjFX_wH8PvFGVnP3Z96Zf1jFnXKAX-f1TPteZrWofPVy7iMnh2zzCo5WTJl-Vo94Pbrzonb_22YaVQWftRtGVL/s320/jn+132.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395845360186273090" border="0" /></a>Oh yeah, and here are a couple other extraordinary horticultural treasures i happened upon lately:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqSYHIrpdK5S6JIH9UvxyXUciEi2_NbZZ2U0sj78OIkeJXj_BefcovCwsWE_HDDqF21zGR6s3UFP3nW_ClZ0dJdAwLcKzFJALlwrA9pUWr1JciXtTdNEad6zc3kxgWA4T8srny4eqe1ORi/s1600-h/dragonfrt.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 160px; height: 119px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqSYHIrpdK5S6JIH9UvxyXUciEi2_NbZZ2U0sj78OIkeJXj_BefcovCwsWE_HDDqF21zGR6s3UFP3nW_ClZ0dJdAwLcKzFJALlwrA9pUWr1JciXtTdNEad6zc3kxgWA4T8srny4eqe1ORi/s320/dragonfrt.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5396238405361627202" border="0" /></a><br />Dragon fruit (left) grows on a<br />cactus like tree. The majority of people in Denmark don't believe in God. That blows me away yet doesn't surprise me at all. What i mean is, i believe it but i'm surprised it's being acknowledged.<br /><br />Did you know? many of the most intelligent, creative, thoughtful minds of today and throughout history are largely atheists: Einstein, Edison, Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, Asimov, Freud, Dawkins, Nietzsche, Bill Gates, George Carlin (but he questions everything). So, the likelihood of your believing in God is inversely proportional to your level of intellect.<br /><br />I'll say it again. The higher an IQ level people have the less likely they are to believe in God. In a 1998 survey of more than 500 members of the National Academy of Scientists, it was found that 72% were atheists, 21% were agnostics and 7% believed in God. Hmmm. Just ponder that a bit...<br />By the way, this is a recent photo i took of sunrise here on the east coast of Florida. It was glowing so bright orange that it lured me from my home 5 blocks away. A quick trip to the west coast of Florida in search of the elusive scallop paid off. Ok, if it was a survival trip, we would have starved. But it was very cool. Did you know scallops have lots of blue eyes along the edge of their shell? You simply snorkel in the shallows, spot one, grab it before it scoots away, bag it and move on. We all caught some. Dylan won. Roman and Chibi, our chihuahua, mothered them thru the early stages. But once they grew bigger than the dog they pecked her on the butt so she's afraid of them now. We are left with 4 very different breeds. One came in the dog door the other day and layed an egg in my bed!<br />Did you know chickens have personalities?<br /><br />I love to watch "hot topics" on The View and the boys said they sound like chickens so we renamed our 4 chickens after the women on the view.<br /><br />There's Joy<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil1klThygdZzCzBuXrAosvXIOARcj_PZnqG2n6AmTfSzlDPUWlLMpP6iMEeEC5wkb-_O5MHNeEZW_a-j5qIj4tg7AahK2dpfseOy0yRPu1QAwDKqk9ihxiRfVu0kFyO6cK8_0p0Lf9dhGy/s1600-h/May+08+200.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 177px; height: 133px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil1klThygdZzCzBuXrAosvXIOARcj_PZnqG2n6AmTfSzlDPUWlLMpP6iMEeEC5wkb-_O5MHNeEZW_a-j5qIj4tg7AahK2dpfseOy0yRPu1QAwDKqk9ihxiRfVu0kFyO6cK8_0p0Lf9dhGy/s320/May+08+200.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311543668295984562" border="0" /></a>Elizabeth and Sherri<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho5gYKW2YBZR8zH9derwhAzRrnG-89j8HMQb5r9AgBofyoFpXynxe-2N5UwHWVA-v6S1dCw_QEUJldgXZgbJH52TD3VyMiXowIVRxSiucTN3dxPR_Gi4MkhEInWbl9uw7Sc-AIYgqeliz2/s1600-h/May+08+201.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 182px; height: 136px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho5gYKW2YBZR8zH9derwhAzRrnG-89j8HMQb5r9AgBofyoFpXynxe-2N5UwHWVA-v6S1dCw_QEUJldgXZgbJH52TD3VyMiXowIVRxSiucTN3dxPR_Gi4MkhEInWbl9uw7Sc-AIYgqeliz2/s320/May+08+201.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311543664333457282" border="0" /></a>and Whoo<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjBlK1VIWhSR05QKTdZk24OcpeaUFT0aXgKwHo_iG6vBWqbWrq6Y-LABklqxxBI3aIpUaQ-ogfbDqDBgjhsstUx-9srA8TX6uXKSIYpjoR4RamgYznMgOpube4-X2j0F3G3y559WK8KIUA/s1600-h/septL&L08+125.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 176px; height: 133px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjBlK1VIWhSR05QKTdZk24OcpeaUFT0aXgKwHo_iG6vBWqbWrq6Y-LABklqxxBI3aIpUaQ-ogfbDqDBgjhsstUx-9srA8TX6uXKSIYpjoR4RamgYznMgOpube4-X2j0F3G3y559WK8KIUA/s320/septL&L08+125.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311543656164875682" border="0" /></a>pie, of coure, is the black one.flyerkathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08760666770923103442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777421834912166554.post-39620657078356030422009-03-10T08:38:00.011-04:002009-10-22T08:06:34.284-04:00Dylan's 16th voyage around the sunDylan turned 16 March 5th. He is actually very wise for his age, a pleasure to be around. There is joy in the many stages of kids, but teens are pretty amazing. He has plenty of time to find his place, his purpose. But there's no hurry. Its a lifelong journey. I still dont know what "I" want to be when i grow up. I trust he will be just fine.flyerkathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08760666770923103442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777421834912166554.post-83059591204488815442009-01-12T14:50:00.010-05:002009-10-30T20:42:47.858-04:00Then came Roman...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic0lZXM5azVK9furCsrPizV83oUkHP39_g5YLGrTPXCNW1jM222ZnJFE_vJG1ZHdg9KWZ0we00mO2v6IlDFyi-WWtzkOW-Y0wWZStarjDPFmjveERzA4_nlR3BT-ilJZYHCK5c8X9OMoaf/s1600-h/May+08+080.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic0lZXM5azVK9furCsrPizV83oUkHP39_g5YLGrTPXCNW1jM222ZnJFE_vJG1ZHdg9KWZ0we00mO2v6IlDFyi-WWtzkOW-Y0wWZStarjDPFmjveERzA4_nlR3BT-ilJZYHCK5c8X9OMoaf/s320/May+08+080.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311565025587864722" border="0" /></a><br />At 42, with lots of medical assistance, Roman was conceived. He was/is a joy. We learned from our mistakes and this time it was a smoother run. Breastfed, self weaned, uncircum, he left the family bed this past year. He is more sensitive, particular, but happy, more easy going as he grows.<br /><br />His latest activities include tending the chickens, learning to read playing runescape, iceskating, skateboarding, boogie boarding, ravemaster books, endless hours on laptop making game maps, creating and finding game mods. He is a wiz on the computer. But who knows, he may grow up to be a chinese chicken farmer.flyerkathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08760666770923103442noreply@blogger.com0
